HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of healing suited to all. The young and old, the rich and the poor, from developed and under developed countries, from anyplace or climate, all can benefit from this system of healing.
Homeopathy helps the body to fight disease condition by using the body’s defense mechanism. There are no toxic effects or side effects to Homeopathic remedies.
Homeopathy is a system of medicine that uses natural substances. These natural substances come from minerals, vegetable and the animal kingdoms. Metals like gold, silver, platinum and minerals like sulfur, arsenic and antimony, have all been made to serve the mission of Homeopathy. Substances available in the herbal, mineral or animal kingdoms have been transformed by potenisation into invaluable medicines for acute as well as chronic problems.
Homeopathy is a gentle yet effective form of treatment for many conditions, illness and diseases. It is holistic in nature, which means that in determining treatment the whole person is considered as well as the specific problem or illness.
Father of Homeopathy - Christian Samuel Haneman
- Christian Friedrich Samuel Haneman was born in Meeisen 1755. His parents were in education but being very poor found it difficult to afford the cost of education for Samuel. Samuel Haneman was forced to apprentice as a grocer. A rector at a school encouraged Haneman’s parents to have him stay in school. Being proficient at a language, he taught language in exchange for school fees.
- He studied medicine in Leipzig at the age of 20 and managed to save enough money to study at the most advanced medical school in Vienna. While a student, he simultaneously worked as a physician and a librarian to the governor of Transylvania.
- In the course of his duty, he spent two years in the marshy lands of Hungary, where ague was a serious problem. At the age of 24, he qualified and worked as a medical officer of health in Magdeburg, where he married the daughter of an apothecary.
- In his experiences that followed, he realized that quinine was used to treat ague. Therefore, he went on to experiment by taking quinine himself. The result was that he developed the symptoms of ague (malaria). At this point, he decided to take one drop of quinine and add 9 drops of alcohol and sucussed the mixture for approximately 240 times (calling it a 1x potency). A drop of this mixture is then mixed with another 9 drops of alcohol and again sucussed (2). He continued to dilute the mixture to the potency of 6x, at which point quinine proper could not be detected in the mixture. After taking the 6x potency himself, all symptoms of ague and malaria disappeared. Thus the term: "similia similibus currentia," 'like cures like'.
- After this, he went on to test other plants, reptiles and animals in the same manner and processed them all into potencies of 6x and above. The potencies were taken by healthy people and all reactions were noted (i.e. mental, physical and emotional) whether important or not and recorded in the Materia Medica.
- This potentisation has resulted in an awakening of an inert power that was lying dormant in these substances, only to be awakened by the succussion process. Haneman’s principle of treating people is a triangle of spirit: the true man, the material body and the life force, together forming a vital force.
- When this vital force becomes disturbed from disharmonies of living and thinking symptoms sow up as diseases.
